KRISTJÁN INGI EINARSSON

Born in Reykjavík in 1952, Kristján Ingi Einarsson began taking photographs at the age of ten, when he acquired his first box camera. In 1975 he began working as a freelance photographer for various newspapers, magazines, companies and institutions. A decade later, in 1985, he took over as director of the printing firm Leturprent ehf. Here he remained until the autumn of 2006, when he sold the business to return to his former pursuit as photographer. Kristján Ingi has held many photographic exhibitions and published a number of children’s books, including: Húsdýrin okkar (Our domestic animals), Krakkar, krakkar (Children, children) and Kátt í koti (Full of fun) and six landscape books THE ESSENCE OF ICELAND (2009)  ICELAND SO QUET (2010) I WAS HERE (2013) NICELAND (2014) HORSES & NATURE (2015) UNIQUE ISLAND (2017) In his more recent work,Kristján Ingi has focused on landscape, with photos that endeavour to interpret his vision of his country.

Kristján Ingi er fæddur í Reykjavík 1952. Hann hefur tekið ljósmyndir frá tíu ára aldri, er hann eignaðist sína fyrstu kassamyndavél. Hann starfaði lengi sjálfstætt sem ljósmyndari fyrir ýmis blöð, tímarit, fyrirtæki og stofnanir, eða þar til árið 1985 er hann tók við rekstri Leturprents ehf. Hann rak prentsmiðjuna til haustsins 2006 þegar hann seldi fyrirtækið og tók upp fyrri iðju við ljósmyndun. Kristján Ingi hefur haldið fjölda ljósmyndasýninga og gefið út níu bækur, má þar nefna barnabækurnar Húsdýrin okkar, Krakkar, krakkar og Kátt í koti og sex landslagsbækur The Essence of Iceland (Kjarni Íslands) 2009 , Iceland so Quiet 2010 I WAS HERE 2013  NICELAND 2014  HORSES & NATURE 2015 og UNIQUE ISLAND 2017
